Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple is a temple located on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang in Karangasem, Bali. Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang is considered part of the temple complex around Mount Lempuyang, one of the most revered temples in Bali. The temples on Mount Lempuyang, represented by the highest temple at the top of Mount Lempuyang, Pura Lempuyang Luhur, is one of the Sad Kahyangan Jagad, or "six holy places of the world", the six holiest places of prayer in Bali.

History
The establishment of prayer places around Mount Lempuyang is believed to precede most temples on the island of Bali. The temples on Mount Lempuyang, represented by Pura Lempuyang Luhur, the highest temple in the area, are grouped in one temple complex which is the Sad Kahyangan Luhur Lempuyang Temple.

The group of temples is considered part of the Sad Kahyangan Jagad, or "six holy places of the world", the six holiest places of prayer in Bali. According to Balinese belief, they are an important point of the island and are intended to provide spiritual balance for Bali.

The group of temples on Mount Lempuyang is also one of the groups of temples in Bali known as Pura Kahyangan Padma Bhuwana. Each temple at Pura Kahyangan Padma Bhuwana marks each of the eight main cardinal directions. Lempuyang Luhur Temple represents the east (purwa) and is white. This direction is associated with the realm of the Balinese god, Iswara.

To reach the sublime temple requires extra effort. For those of you who like trekking, this will be a journey full of challenges. Climb for approximately a minimum of 2 hours for those who are experts and trekking for 3 to 4 hours for beginners. During the trip we will see various natural conditions and in one of the places we will meet wild monkeys

When we arrive at the main place of this temple we will be presented with an amazing mountain view where the ocean can be seen between the views of two other mountains. and the unique thing about this temple is that they get holy water from bamboo, perhaps because it is a mountainous area so the place is humid and the water enters the bamboo, the water is fresh and clear.

The Basic of Lempuyang

During the exploration for tourists they will only be at the main temple where the Paradise Gate is located. after you are taken by a special tourist bus which is a new strategy provided by the government to avoid prolonged traffic jams in this narrow road area.

we can walk to the basic temple of lempuyang, the basic temple which has a beautiful view of Gunng Agung. The basic temple is a welcoming temple for us before climbing to the temple at the top of the mountain.

The temple was built with limestone which makes this temple chalky white with typical Balinese ornaments. To get a selfie here we will queue up to get our turn to take a photo. When we have finished visiting, we can return to the bus where we have been given a return ticket.
