In this dance, the entertainment will also include moral messages in it, most of these dances take certain stories that were famous in their time and are reviewed based on the era in which they are held.
This time we will discuss the Barong dance, one of the sacred dances in Bali.
This dance is taken from one chapter of the Maha Brata, which is one of the world's most famous epics. This chapter specifically discusses Saha Dewa. namely when the Pandavas were on the run and in disguise passing through a village where people were victims. Sahadewa, who was one of the Pandavas, wanted to help the local population and this is his story as below:
At the start of the story you will be taken into a natural setting in a village close to the forest where the Barong (tiger symbol) is active and resting and is disturbed by a monkey. they also joke like nature. until the villagers came to look for the animals that were destroying their gardens.
They searched all over the area until they met a monkey who really liked to disturb the farmer's garden, then the residents tried to catch him, but a tiger came so the residents ran away from the forest.
After the opening chapter you will be presented with a welcoming dance performed by the girls with graceful and harmonious movements of their entire bodies.

After that, the story continues with the atmosphere of the place or kingdom where Sahadewa lived during his escape. And here we will show a little laughter by soldiers from Sahadewa before attending a meeting about the plague.
one chapter tells of one of the royal beliefs, namely Patih Madri, who also prepared himself to attend the meeting. After they left to meet their mother, namely the goddess Kunti, the meeting began, during the meeting there was a debate which caused an evil spirit sent by one of the followers of the goddess Durga to offering Sahadewa at the grave for sacrifice.

Because the order came from his mother, he couldn't refuse, so Sahadewa was accompanied by his governor with a heavy heart. Before tying Sahadewa to one of the trees, the evil spirit that was sent, which influenced Sahadewa's mother, also came and influenced Patih Madri, with great ferocity, Patih Madri tied and prepared Sahadewa to be sacrificed.
After completing his mission, the Madri governor left Sahadewa alone with only Sahadewa's followers. In the midst of his surrender, Lord Shiva came to protect Sahadeva by entering Sahadeva's body. and when Goddess Durga came, she immediately wanted to tear Sahadewa to shreds, but Sahadewa was immune and did not suffer the slightest injury.
Until finally Goddess Durga realized that Lord Shiva had invited her back to Siwa Loka after her punishment to guard the grave. Then the goddess Durga asked to be released from her worldly attachment to Sahadewa. She also fulfilled the request of the goddess Kunti to free her from her punishment.

After the goddess Durga Nirvana, the followers of Durga also asked to be released from this bondage, but Sahadewa refused because there would be emptiness if given. so that the followers of the goddess Durga, namely Candika, were furious and so a fight was inevitable.
This quarrel never ended, all of Candika's supernatural powers had been released, but he could not defeat Sahadewa, so he applied the highest knowledge from the goddess Durga, namely changing her form to Rangda and Sahadewa changing himself to Barong, which was the pinnacle of their knowledge. This fight was fruitless.
Because this battle didn't end, the followers of Sahadewa became confused because they couldn't differentiate between good and bad who had the same level of knowledge, finally they begged and prayed to Lord Shiva and said they would attack Rangda, the embodiment of Candika and if they died in this activity, it would mean that evil had won.
if they are still alive that means good has won. and the followers agreed and they died but they were revived by sahdewa. Then the followers were not satisfied and tried to stab themselves with weapons but they didn't die and the story was over

From this story we can draw the conclusion that the Barong story is a story about 2 different things that tell about good and bad. Evil cannot be killed because if it is killed there will be emptiness and imbalance in this world.
What needs to be done is to balance it so that there is no high surge within oneself and self-control. We must pierce all our senses to find our identity. when we can overcome our senses then we will find peace in life.
